Responsible to the Shop Supervisor to assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures for heating, water, gas, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes. Includes assembling and installing valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and nonmetals. Conducts testing, preventative maintenance, and expedient system assessment to identify clogs and/or leaks. Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, showers, water heaters, water fountains, and regulators. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operation upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours. Note: This position will serve primarily as a boiler mechanic and will be performing preventive maintenance and repair of boilers and associated equipment Responsibilities Maintains, installs and repairs all aspects of plumbing including, but not limited to water, gas, interior and exterior plumbing components, and sanitary/storm sewer systems. Modifies, repairs, replaces and maintains boiler system components. Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties. Accomplishes periodic inspections/recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes. Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper use of all assigned shop equipment.
