Ability to comply with clinical protocol, specifications, and procedures. Ability to complete and maintain documents and records. Responsibilities Performs a variety of routine blood drawing procedures, using standard equipment such as vaccutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles. Confers with patient to obtain information for laboratory records, explains procedures, allays fears, and elicits cooperation. Prepares, processes, labels, and stores patient specimens and samples according to established procedures. Maintains inventory of supplies; stocks supplies on carts and hand trays. Performs quality control procedures to maintain compliance with applicable regulations. Complies with safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards and practices.
