Come join our team on unit 93/94! The Unit Clerk is an essential member of the interprofessional team on this acute internal medicine and pulmonary unit and is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. Working under the general supervision of the Manager/Unit Manager and Nurse Clinician/Charge Nurse, the Unit Clerk provides a variety of clerical support duties and is responsible for preparing and maintaining health records and other documentation related to the patient’s stay. The Unit Clerk serves as the point of first contact in matters concerning the efficient administration of the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk is also responsible for relaying information related to admissions, transfers and discharge of patients, diagnostic tests, booking appointments and consults. The Unit Clerk plays a key role in helping to foster a team environment in the unit by facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line, supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies with the unit.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
