UQ Library This is a full-time, continuing position with salary in the range $115,645 - $129,654 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. Lead compliance and innovative Resilience, Health, Safety and Wellness (RHSW) projects within a layered organisation, collaborating across central divisions to ensure world-class safety standards. Based at our St Lucia campus. About This Opportunity We are seeking an experienced RHSW Manager to provide high-level, strategic and operational support across UQ Library, driving the implementation of RHSW plans and fostering a positive safety culture. You will oversee the full spectrum of physical, mental, and psychosocial health and wellbeing, ensuring compliance with UQ policies and legislation, while supporting effective risk management to inform Library decision-making and service delivery. Key responsibilities will include: Strategic RHSW Leadership and Compliance Provide expert advice and recommendations to Library management on RHSW best practice, legislative compliance, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management. You will develop and lead the implementation of proactive plans and activities to build RHSW capability, ensuring a uniform approach to inductions, mandatory training, and workplace assessments across the library. Risk Management and Incident Oversight Manage the continuous development and maintenance of risk registers, disaster plans, and critical incident management plans. You will oversee all incident reporting and investigations, ensuring the development and monitoring of remedial action plans to prevent recurrence and ensure business continuity. Safety Culture and Training Development Coach and mentor library staff and managers on safety leadership, promoting psychological safety, managing psychosocial hazards, and fostering a positive RHSW culture across the entire Library. You may manage, develop, and provide effective, locally tailored OHS training where needed. Stakeholder Collaboration and Governance Collaborate with central divisions (including UQ HSW, HR and Governance and Risk) to identify and mitigate risks and respond to incidents and hazards. You will serve as secretary to the library RHSW committee and represent the library on broader UQ committees to implement strategic priorities and enhance cross-departmental collaboration. About You Essential Postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or similar with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Excellent understanding of and experience in managing health, safety, and wellbeing across physical, mental, and psychosocial aspects, and a demonstrated ability to promote positive practices in these areas. Thorough understanding of the principles and legislation relating to OHS. Demonstrated capacity to successfully implement and manage policies and procedures concerning relevant OHS legislation, standards, and codes. Demonstrated ability to review and analyse complex information from a risk perspective. You must be able to synthesize findings and provide high-level summaries and reports to effectively inform organisational planning and senior management decision-making. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and the ability to effectively negotiate and build relationships with a diverse group of senior stakeholders, colleagues, and staff. Demonstrated record of personal achievement in programs that drive significant positive outcomes across an organisation. Desirable Understanding of university or library environments and associated risks, combined with experience in leading change to enhance organisational culture.
