Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

About the role
Exciting news for the Tanami Expansion 2 Project (TE2) at Newmont Australia, we currently have an opportunity for a Engineer, Projects Electrical and Instrumentation (E), to join our team at TE2. This role will be reporting into the CSMP Specialist Engineer. The role will be responsible for conducting on-site detailed Engineering, following inspections and data collection, analysis of issues/concerns, which then support project engineering activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, technical excellence, and informed decision-making to support project success.

What you’ll be doing

• Execute on-site inspections, review of issues, TQ’s, and data collection to support problem solving field engineering activities.
• Support in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of engineering equipment and instruments.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, schematics, and documentation based on field data and project requirements.
• Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues encountered during field operations.
• Execute tests and measurements to verify the performance and compliance of engineering systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to prepare and execute field procedures and protocols.
• Depending on position, works Underground and Surface

What we’re looking for

• Qualification and/or extensive specialist engineering experience
• Able to proficiently use design and modelling software and database systems (Familiarity with Schneider PLCs and Citect Scada is desirable)
• Knowledge of Control System Networks
• 11kV switchgear, 415V MCCs, Electrical Control System
• Knowledge and understanding of AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules
• Experience in mining or heavy mineral industry
• Able to interpret, review, analyse and if needed reperform detailed engineering calculations
• Able to design alternates to relevant Engineering and Newmont standards and specifications
• Improves working methods using day-to-day experiences, procedures, observations of pattern of events, and trial and error
