Posted Job Title Business Manager C Job Profile Title Business Manager C Job Description Summary Reporting to the Director of Research Administration for the Department of Cancer Biology (CBIO) and the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute (AFCRI), provide oversight of all pre-award activity and manage financial operations. Serve as the primary liaison for over 100 proposals per year between principal investigators, trainees, sponsors, and signing officials. Activity includes direct departmental submission to sponsors for ~50% of awards received. Total value of proposal submitted exceeds $150m annually, supporting annual extramural research expenditures of ~$25m. AFCRI includes financial reporting of independent 501(c)(3) and related annual audit. Labs are primarily engaged in basic biomedical and translational research. Job Description Leads pre-award activity and manages financial operations and planning for AFCRI-CBIO, including pre-award oversight, proposal budget and grants management and forecasting. Audits and oversees financial systems and reporting to ensure compliance with University policies, and implements procedures to improve operational efficiency. Develops staff, manages related operational processes, and builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Position contingent upon continued funding. Job Responsibilities Provides oversight of all pre-award activity for AFCRI-CBIO including coordination with principal investigators on proposal planning, budget development, internal review, and timely submission to a diverse range of sponsors. Prepares and manages operating budgets, grants, and revenue transactions. Summarizes, interprets, and prepares financial reports and other required reports. Ensures fiscal integrity of all financial transactions. Audits department workflow to ensure compliance with university and federal policies and procedures. Implements new department procedures and controls to maximize efficiency of operations. Manages and reviews department systems (billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, invoicing) and resolves operational problems. Develops and recommends changes and alternative financial operations and systems. Prepares relevant presentations and procedural updates to keep colleagues informed of changes. Coordinates training and professional development pertaining to pre-award activities.
