Position Summary:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Advisor Women in Sport manager and under the supervision and close collaboration with the Lead Mental Performance Advisor, the Mental Performance Advisor will be expected to support the Varsity athletes.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Meet with the Varsity athletes either through workshops, group meetings or individual sessions as required.
• During meetings, the overarching objective is to teach the athletes and teams the necessary skills to perform consistently.
• Along with the coaching staff, expected to assist with the development of the annual goals and objectives for the respective team.
• Liaise with the Senior Varsity Advisor to ensure that the Women in Sport Program is offering the latest in supportive offerings.
• Develop and update presentations to be made within the McGill community.
• Promote adherence to the professional ethical standards set forth for Certified Mental Performance Consultants (CMPCs).
• Assume a leadership role in special projects, as needed, pertaining to assigned responsibilities.
• Follow processes and protocols at the Women in Sport program such as for record keeping, scheduling appointments, etc.
• Maintain student athlete records in accordance with the guidelines of the professional orders.
• Plans & conduct group workshops, in areas appropriate to the Women in Sport Program mandate.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

• Certified Mental Performance Advisor or in process of becoming Certified Mental Performance Advisor
• Member of Canadian Sport Psychology Association
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with athletes (female athletes is an asset) preferred
• Minimally a master’s degree in Kinesiology, Sports Science or related field of study and/or PhD candidate in Sports Science
• Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing
