Description
The Senior Project Engineering Specialist, leads project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management and troubleshooting for engineering projects. The Project Engineer is responsible in ensuring project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.   Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.   This is a 12-month limited term employment with eligible benefits and 4 weeks’ vacation.    What you’ll do * Applies a project management approach to complete design, pre-production and production support activities, including work performed by major subcontractors, and ensure the efficient delivery of engineering outputs. * Supports the Manager, Project Engineering and Senior Project Engineers to develop project control documents and assessment of Control Account Management data of engineering scope for assigned projects. * Conducts regular analyses of engineering performance and proactively identifies and addresses variances. * Helps drive timely closure of technical issues, risks and opportunities raised by the project, to ensure that all engineering deliverables and inputs to other collaborators are achieved and meet (or exceed) commitments. * Responsible for application of an appropriate engineering maturity management culture and appropriate engineering lifecycle management, aligned with project objectives. * Ensures maturity targets are agreed with key stakeholders. * Helps coordinate Gate Reviews (Design Reviews) that are conducted at appropriate points during the Project lifecycle.   What you’ll bring * Relevant bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or scientific subject area or a similar experience with a strong technical background. * 10+ years of experience in Engineering or Technical Project Management, preferably with knowledge of ship/maritime systems or specialized knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, communications or a related domain. * Experience of supplier technical management an asset. * Professional Engineer with a recognized, accredited institution, or working towards achieving such status, preferred. * Solid understanding of CAD software, 3D Modelling and Visualization tools, document control systems and databases is a plus. * Working towards their PMP Certification.   Why you’ll love working here * This role provides you a very competitive salary in line with the successful candidate’s experience.  * We also provide the best-in-class health and wellness benefits package for this position, including things such as extended health care (i.e. paramedical services for massage therapy,  speech therapy, mental health coverage, physiotherapy, and more), dental care, vision care, $500 personal spending account, and an Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP).  * Strong communication skills including verbal, written, listening and presentation. * Good organizational skills. * Availability and willingness to travel if needed. * Committed to a high standard of safety and able to follow all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules. * Exercise good judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the crucial job functions. * Self-starter with excellent communications and organizational skills * Proven ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems. * Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and confirm its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process. * Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills including the ability to produce and communicate clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports. * PC proficiency required. Solid understanding of Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). * While this is a limited term position, there may be opportunities for extension depending on business needs.  * Free on-site gym.  * Parking is included and to assist those that are using transit, we operate a complimentary shuttle bus Monday through Friday with various pick up and drop off points around North Vancouver.    The estimated salary for this position is $119,700 - $146,300. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.   #LI-ONSITE
