Are you ready to lead high-performing engineering teams and drive innovation?
Do you have the vision and expertise to modernise engineering practices?
Want to make a lasting impact on technology leadership?
StepChange is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead its engineering functions, ensuring teams deliver scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions aligned with business goals. You’ll drive modernisation, Agile and DevOps maturity, and continuous improvement across the full application lifecycle, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
As a senior technology leader, you’ll oversee Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, Integration, Business Applications, and Application Support, shaping both established and emerging capabilities
What you’ll be doing
You will lead the transformation and modernisation of engineering and application functions, integrating Agile, DevOps, and automation best practices. You will oversee architecture, code quality, testing, integration, and support operations, ensuring scalable, efficient solutions. With strategic leadership across engineering, integration, quality assurance, business applications, and application support, you will shape a cohesive, high-performing technology function that drives innovation and operational excellence.
Beyond strategy, you will play a key role in team leadership, delivery management, and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability across engineering functions. You will promote modernisation through automation, embed best practices in DevOps and observability, and lead efforts to reduce technical debt. Acting as a senior technology liaison, you will bridge engineering capabilities with business goals, ensuring stakeholder alignment and change adoption
About you
In this role, you’ll scale high-performing teams, foster leadership development, and navigate complex stakeholder relationships to ensure seamless cross-functional programme delivery. Your expertise in enterprise software development, integration architectures, and application lifecycle management will be instrumental in modernising legacy systems, embedding CI/CD, test automation, and DevSecOps practices while leveraging both traditional and cloud-based technologies such as .NET, SQL, and AWS.
Beyond driving Agile and DevOps transformation, you’ll embed measurable engineering practices, ensuring efficiency and innovation in delivery. With a strategic mindset, you’ll align technical outcomes with business goals, manage large-scale change programmes, and advance enterprise-wide technology capabilities.
