Position Summary: We are seeking to hire a Finance Controller at our Global Headquarters located in Waterloo, Ontario responsible for all general ledger accounting functions, including but not limited to month-end close, SOX compliance, working capital management, and payroll functions. This rewarding role has the opportunity to work closely with business leadership to provide impactful financial information and drive business performance in the growing pharmaceutical and life sciences fields
Reports To: MPT Finance Director

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance with Finance Designation (CPA)
• 5 - 7 years related accounting experience
• Process improvement and change management experience
• Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX
• Experience working with and leading cross functional Teams
• Supervisory experience and/or project leadership skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization and with external sales representatives, customers, vendors, and others as required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Advanced Excel skills
• JE Edwards (JDE) experience an asset
• Experience with OneStream

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• High level of integrity and ethical standards
• Can-do attitude
• Strong work ethic with a curious and resilient nature
• Strong leadership and team building and talent development skills and sense of urgency

• Business partnering with all other departments within MPT as well as the Corporate Accounting teams
• Ensure compliance with tax and outside regulatory bodies (GST, corporate tax returns and payments, etc.)
• Mentoring, managing and appraising staff to promote growth, development and positive team culture
• Adhere to our internal policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Manage the audit processes and serve as the local Audit Leader. Support and coordinate all internal, external and SOX audit activity
• Support the payroll process, in coordination with internal and external partners
• Using general cost and accounting principles; provide in-depth understanding of key operational metrics to support financial reporting
• Understand the Business Lines within the company and the financial metrics to drive success (volume, overhead, labor costs, standards, productivity, efficiency, etc.)
• Key thought partner with Finance Director, implementing procedural improvements and driving engagement within the team
• Other duties, as assigne
