Your mission The Finance Business Partner provides financial support to assigned countries, functions, and projects by working closely with operational and programme stakeholders to support planning, decision-making, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, reporting and performance management. What you will do: The role sits within the finance function and acts as a key interface between Finance and the wider organisation at an operational and tactical level, supporting the consistent application of financial policies, procedures, and controls, while contributing to effective and efficient use of resources. Provide financial support to assigned portfolios, working closely with programme, operational, and functional stakeholders to support planning, implementation, and performance tracking. Support the preparation and coordination of budgets and forecasts, ensuring that financial inputs are complete, accurate, and aligned with operational plans, funding requirements, and organisational priorities. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, analysing variances and working with stakeholders to understand drivers and ensure appropriate follow-up actions. Contribute to internal management reporting and donor reporting processes, ensuring that financial information is accurate, well-supported, and consistent with underlying data and agreements. Support stakeholders in understanding financial information, translating financial data into practical insights to inform day-to-day decision-making at an operational level. Support the alignment of financial activities and decisions with approved budgets, donor requirements, and organisational policies, highlighting risks, inconsistencies, or areas requiring attention. Support the preparation and review of financial information for projects, grants, and partnerships, ensuring that documentation, assumptions, and calculations are complete and consistent. Work closely with Finance Operations to support alignment between financial planning and transaction processing, supporting resolution of issues related to coding, documentation, and financial data. Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including review of financial data, follow-up on outstanding items, and ensuring that financial information from assigned portfolios is complete and accurate. Engage with donors and external stakeholders as required, supporting financial reporting, clarifications, and provision of financial information in coordination with senior finance colleagues. Support the consistent application of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, including budget management, documentation standards, and financial governance requirements. Identify financial risks, inconsistencies, or process gaps within assigned areas, and escalate or propose improvements in coordination with the Senior Finance Business Partner. ROLE-SPECIFIC OR CONTEXT RESPONSIBILITIES The role may be assigned to support different portfolios, including country programmes, global functions, projects, or partnership arrangements, and is expected to operate flexibly across these contexts as organisational needs evolve. Provide financial support across varying operational environments, including contexts with differing levels of financial maturity, adapting approach and level of support accordingly. Support financial management of donor-funded projects and partnerships as required, including adapting to specific donor requirements, reporting formats, and funding conditions. Contribute to different elements of the finance cycle depending on assignment, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, or financial monitoring, as required.
