Lotus Group is proud to partner with our valued and established Edmonton based client in search of an experienced Accounting Manager for their Spruce Grove offices.

The Accounting Manager will be a fundamental part of their accounting team working on operational and management accounting. The successful candidate will be a self starter, intuitive, pivotable and have an ability to be innovative in their approach to processes and procedures. Reporting directly to the Group Controller, the role will be managing AP/AR, GST/PST filing, working on financial statements, budget cost control, bank reconciliations, forecasting, and month end and year end responsibilities.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform project management tracking and reporting functions for all individual projects.
• Manage cash flow, invoicing, and ensure timely payment of bills and expenses.
• Weekly updates of cash-flow forecasts and ensuring accurate predictions of cash requirements.
• Prepare and review financial statements and ensure accurate financial data review and reconciliation per ASPE.
• Manage Payroll for both companies including an analysis on labor spend Vs. budget as well as creating and posting payroll Journal Entries.
• Develop and implement internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepare and continually improve the monthly management reporting package in a timely accurate manner.
• Work with external tax consultants and attorneys for all tax compliance filings and planning matters.
• Review Customer, Vendor and Employee contracts as required.
• Perform standard and ad hoc financial analyses to support management decision-making.
• Lead and participate in ad-hoc projects as required.
• Coach and supervise junior staff.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
• 5+ years of industry work experience required.
• A strong background in Management accounting and division reporting is required.
• Project Management experience is considered an asset.
• Experience with accounting standards and tax regulation research.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and thrive in a high paced environment.
• Detail oriented and well-organized individual.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact within multiple industries and with many personality types.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Expert use of Excel and knowledgeable in MS Word.
• Experience with Quickbooks desktop is considered an asset.
