With continued investment in its finance capability, the organisation is looking to strengthen its financial control, reporting and governance framework while continuing to improve systems, processes and ways of working.

The Position

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the CFO, this Senior Financial Accountant position will take significant ownership across financial reporting, technical accounting, month-end, audit, cash flow and financial control.

Initially commencing as a temporary assignment with an immediate start, there is genuine potential for the position to become permanent for the right individual.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of the month-end close and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
• Preparing monthly management reporting and supporting annual statutory financial statements
• Managing revenue recognition across a complex and high-volume revenue environment
• Maintaining balance sheet integrity and ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and consistently
• Managing bad debt reporting and providing insight around movements and financial exposure
• Leading cash flow forecasting and continually improving forecasting accuracy
• Monitoring working capital and supporting broader cash and liquidity management
• Taking a lead role in preparing for and managing the external audit process
• Coordinating audit deliverables and working directly with external auditors
• Preparing technical accounting assessments and supporting complex accounting treatments
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation requirements and internal governance frameworks
• Strengthening financial controls and improving overall audit readiness
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and automation
• Supporting systems improvement and broader finance transformation initiatives
• Partnering with finance, commercial and operational stakeholders across the organisation
• Providing technical support and mentoring to more junior members of the finance team
• Acting as a trusted delegate to the Financial Controller when required

This is not simply a transactional month-end role. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership, identify issues, challenge existing processes and help build a stronger and more scalable finance function.

The Candidate

We are looking for a technically strong Senior Financial Accountant who is comfortable taking ownership and operating with a high level of autonomy.

Ideally, you will be CA or CPA qualified and have developed strong experience across financial reporting, financial control, audit and technical accounting.

Particularly relevant experience will include:

• Strong month-end and financial reporting experience
• Demonstrated experience taking the lead in preparing for and executing an external audit
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition and complex revenue accounting
• Experience within a high-volume billing or revenue environment
• Exposure to organisations with complex operational or infrastructure-related assets would be highly regarded
• Strong cash flow forecasting experience
• Excellent balance sheet reconciliation and financial control capability
• Experience preparing statutory financial statements
• Exposure to technical accounting assessments and accounting standards
• Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with ERP systems
• Previous involvement in an ERP implementation, system migration or finance systems transition would be advantageous
• Experience improving financial processes, controls or reporting would also be highly regarded
