The main goal of the position is to be the person in charge of the hydric necessities of the plants at the Nursery and the proper functioning of the irrigation system as well as provide support to the Nursery Agronomist. One of the main goal for this position is to supply accurate feedings programs to every crop under the Nursery Agronomist supervision. This goal includes other tasks like being in charge of the irrigation programs setup, support the installation of new irrigation systems or some updates in the actual irrigation system if necessary, collecting samples from soil, substrate and water, etc. This position is the only other position aside from Nursery Farming Manager and Agronomist that understands and is capable of operating the irrigation system. The position will provide support to the Nursery Agronomist during holidays or vacation with full capability of operating the system. This position has the capacity of making necessary changes in the irrigation times depending on weather condition, current pH, EC, plant stage etc. - those action requires not only technician knowledge but also taking samples from soil, substrate or water ones or twice per day.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE

• 5 Years’ experience as an Irrigation specialist
• 3 Year’s experience in people management

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Portuguese is necessary.
• English is appreciated.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the correct functioning and maintenance of the entire irrigation system.
• Responsible for the hydric necessities of the plants at the Nursery
• Supervise the ‘Irrigation team’ activities.
• Preparation of fertilization solutions.
• Feeding programs set up in the irrigation system application.
• Maintenance of an inventory of pesticide and fertilizer products.
• Support during the installation of new irrigation systems.
• Responsibility for EC, pH and % Drainage recordings and maintenance of the irrigation tools and devices.
• Support the nursery agronomist in making better decisions about nutrient deficiency correction.
