Term Lecturer: Effective professional communication (RCM 200), School of Professional Development The College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, one-year Term Lecturer position within the School of Professional Development (SoPD). About the SoPD The School of Professional Development is home to the College of Engineering’s unique programs in professional communication and entrepreneurship, the RE-Engineered first-year program and to key initiatives in engineering education. The School develops the leadership potential of students and faculty in the College of Engineering and provides the opportunity for students to move beyond the technical dimension of their engineering studies to explore, and to gain expertise in, the broader social and economic contexts in which the engineering profession operates. About the Position Since the quality of the student experience forms the cornerstone of the communication program, the ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, as well as a commitment to teaching and learning innovation. The Term Lecturer will teach nine sections of Effective professional communication (RCM 200) Effective professional communication across the fall, winter, and spring terms of 2026-27. Responsibilities will include course preparation, instruction, student assessment, grading, attending instructors’ meetings, exam invigilation, and course related administrative duties. The successful candidate must possess minimum of a graduate degree in rhetorical studies or a related humanities discipline. Other humanities specializations may also be considered if augmented with significant post-secondary teaching experience in a rhetorically-grounded communication course. Candidates should be prepared to work cooperatively in a team setting with other faculty and instructors to deliver consistent quality and content in our multi-sectioned course. Demonstrated teaching ability in the fields of professional and technical communication is required. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates the following: experience teaching in a post-secondary environment; clear evidence of strong teaching and communication skills; experience teaching courses in rhetorical communication; an ability to work effectively in a collaborating team. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: respectfully including Indigenous perspectives into teaching, contributing to program evaluation, or supporting accreditation-related assessment.
