Description:
HEAD INSTRUCTOR
National Yacht Club’s Sailing & Racing School is now hiring for the 2025 season! Our
sailing school has been teaching sailing on Lake Ontario for over 60 years, with a history
of producing high performance racers and life-long sailors.
We are located on the Western Gap of the Toronto Harbour with a protected mooring basin,
quick access to open lake sailing and a short sail to the beaches of Toronto Islands and
Toronto’s Inner Harbour. We have a well-maintained fleet of SailCube, World Wide Pram,
Optimist, RS Quest and C420 dinghies and inflatable ribs for optimal on-water coaching.
Our program includes CANSail levels 1 through 6, with an Optimist and C420 Race Team.
National is seeking a Head Instructor who has previous coaching experience and strong
leadership and interpersonal skills. We are looking for an individual who is responsible,
self-motivated and enthusiastic about continuing NYC’s legacy of quality programming. Our
ideal candidate is highly organized, a good motivator, an excellent communicator and

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following Qualities and Qualifications:
- Completed CANSail 3&4 or Advanced Instructor Course or CANSail 5&6 Instructo
Responsibilities:
• Full time June through August, Monday to Friday
- Management and mentorship of the instructional team
- Communications with participants parents, via email and social media
- Sailboat and coach boat fleet organization and maintenance
- Assist with CANSail instruction at multiple levels
- Assist with administration of the program, including CANSail evaluations and
registration
- Work with Programs & Marketing Manager and S&RS Committee Members
Our Ideal Candidate will have the following Qualities and Qualifications:
- Completed CANSail 3&4 or Advanced Instructor Course or CANSail 5&6 Instructor
(Trained or Certified) and/or CANSail Program Manager Module
- Sail Canada Instructor Registration for 2025
- Some Racing Experience Recommended
- ROC(M) - VHF Radio Operators Certificate *
- Toronto Port Authority Operators Permit (Toronto Harbour Licence) *
