Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-Secondary education (degree or diploma) is required; candidates with a degree/diploma in a business-related field (accounting, business, economics, finance) are preferred but candidates with a diploma/degree and relevant accounting experience will also be considered;
Preference will be given to candidates with a Professional Accounting Designation or in final level of program completion;
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a role carrying out similar work;
Demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts and experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations;
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision;
Ability to work in a detail-oriented work environment and maintain confidentiality on a broad range of business information;
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and use analytical thinking in a fast-paced environment;
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the ability to convey a positive attitude when dealing with the public or other government agencies;
Have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders;
Experience and proficiency working in a Windows environment using various administrative software packages (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional);
A combination of skills and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities:

All aspects of Accounts Receivable billing and payments for WRDSB customers, including but not limited to:
Extended day (full fee, subsidy and CWELCC, Third Party Day Cares)
Recoverable billings
International Students
Tax Exempt Land
Other requests for invoicing
Daily import of customer payments from the bank and credit card companies to ensure balances are kept current;
Monthly balancing of Accounts Receivable subledger to the Financial System;
Provide financial support to Extended Day Supervisors as well as generate monthly reports regarding outstanding accounts;
Recording of cash deposit slips from schools;
Assist with the year-end audit with respect to receivables;
Preparation of income tax receipts for families registered in the Extended Day Program;
Provide clarification and explanations for any related questions from External Auditors, CRA and staff;
Communicate and assist internal stakeholders according to board procedures, policies and regulations, and is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service within a positive team atmosphere;
Other duties as assigned.
