Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Quickbooks Desktop or Quickbooks Online is a must.
  • Eight years or more of related experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior data management and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient, with excellent time management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong planning, organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in working with accounting software and databases.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Management, Co-Workers, Clients & Staff; both verbally (Individually or in a group setting) and in writing.
  • Accomplished computer skills with MS Office suite, especially Excel, along with experience in relevant business operating systems

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial management within the organization. Accounting serves as the backbone of financial health by recording, analyzing, and reporting on financial transactions. The department is critical for maintaining transparency in financial practices, safeguarding assets, and providing management with the information necessary to make informed business decisions. The accounting team ensures compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards while optimizing the company’s financial performance through effective budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and mentors the accounting staff who are responsible for billing, collections, payroll, and other accounting related duties not handled by the accounting manager.
  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff; working closely with the President.
  • Conducts accounting staff performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation, periodically testing to ensure no changes are needed.
  • Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow and budget reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or other relevant financial standards.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Oversee reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of controls has been maintained. Assist in resolving any discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and manage the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Works closely with outside CPA to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements, as well as other requirements that may arise.
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Implement technology and system improvements where appropriate to enhance the accounting function.
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
