Job Description

  • Manage the monthly financial close process for the German business units, including ensuring all revenues and costs incurred are properly recorded and balance sheet accounts are maintained.
  • Review of journal entries, account reconciliations and roll-forwards for German business units.
  • Own reconciliation between local accounting system and corporate systems.
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of the German Balance Sheets
  • Identify and maintain reconciliation of US GAAP differences with reference to German GAAP.
  • Interact with the business unit finance and wider Corporate Accounting to produce a timely, efficient and accurate month-end close.
  • Prepare detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
  • Collaborate with external statutory auditors and Corporate Statutory Reporting Team to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Work with Corporate Tax team to support local tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-8 years of accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional audit firm experience strongly preferred),
  • Strong knowledge of German GAAP and German financial reporting requirements is essential,
  • Experience of DATEV required,
  • Experience in supervising a team of employees,
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively both with local teams and with US/UK,
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership,
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources, and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments,
  • Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills are required,
  • Knowledge in U.S. GAAP rules beneficial,
  • Large ERP experience (with Oracle Fusion a plus),

SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting required,
  • Professional accounting qualification preferred,
  • Fluency both in English and German required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
