POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Supervisor is accountable for the overall safety, security, efficiency, and cost effective management of their team. The Supervisor must effectively lead Team Members to deliver superior results across all areas of their responsibility. The successful candidate will use coaching skills to lead by example in developing a culture of trust by inspiring, challenging, and promoting our workforce, while ensuring that all quantitative and qualitative measures are met including those related to accountability, reliability, labour utilization, and resource optimization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three (3) years of facility maintenance experience;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience over trades workers;
  • Proven ability to lead and participate in a dynamic fast-paced team-based environment;
  • Strong technical knowledge;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts;
  • Ability to work independently and cope with conflicting demands in short time periods;
  • Computer proficiency in Google and Microsoft programs;
  • CAD proficiency is preferred;
  • Minimum high school level education;
  • Educational study in the trades, engineering, or mechanical industry is considered an asset;
  • Ability to commute to Oshawa, ON for work.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully lead a team of up to 20 or more trades members;
  • Promote an operating culture to create exceptional value to the customer through quality and efficient service delivery;
  • Execute the required strategic initiatives as outlined in the Shop Business Plan;
  • Ensure daily work orders are completed on-time and safely;
  • Conduct maintenance audits and monitor inventory of materials and equipment;
  • Define required skills and capabilities for the shop by ensuring timely execution of all required training;
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations;
  • Provide coaching to engage the team and develop ownership for sustainable targets achievements;
  • Promote and enhance a positive labour management relationship including efforts to continuously improve teamwork and establish high levels of employee involvement;
  • Understand and achieve all required targets for safety, customer satisfaction, and financial and operating performance;
  • Ensure the customer’s value proposition is clearly understood by the onsite team and that the level of customer satisfaction is validated in the customer’s KPI’s;
  • Promote the use of experiments and trials to continually improve how safely and efficiently we deliver our services;
  • Manage team accountability and performance to maximize efficiency and eliminate waste to help ensure that the targeted profitability is achieved;
  • Perform specific assignments as directed by the Area or Site Manager.
