Description:
Anaesthetists work with limited medical equipment, supplies, and facilities to treat trauma patients of all ages, following guidelines set by MSF. Adaptability in high-stakes situations, strong judgement skills, and technical skills during surgery are required. Anaesthetists are responsible for anesthesia during surgery as well as making preoperative and postoperative rounds, including pain management in the hospital ward and medical examinations for critically ill patients. Guidance and training of locally hired staff are also important work done in this position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Compliance with all of the essential requirements for all potential candidates
- Fellow of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (or equivalent)
- Experience in paediatrics, obstetrics, and trauma anaesthesia
- Available for assignment for a minimum period between six to eight weeks, but would prefer four months or longer
- Current practicing certificate and must display no recent gap in clinical experience greater than two years
- Willingness to abide by Médecins Sans Frontières anaesthetic protocols
