DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

We are looking for an innovative, scientifically orientated veterinarian to join Orion Pharma R&D Bioimaging and Laboratory Operations team in Turku.
In this position, your main responsibilities will include veterinary as well as animal welfare officer tasks. As an animal welfare officer, you are responsible to ensure that animals are maintained, and studies performed according to legislation and Orion principles of bioethics. There is also a possibility to be heavily involved in different research projects. We especially value experience and deeper understanding in animal welfare, pharmacology, soft tissue surgery as well as in anesthesia and pain alleviation.
You will work closely as team with our designated veterinarian and animal welfare personnel as well as with a wide group of scientists and research associates.

DESCRIPTION OF UNIT

Bioimaging and Laboratory Operations unit is part of Orion DMPK and Safety Sciences department with facilities located in Turku. We provide scientific and strategic expertise in the field of histology and in vivo imaging, laboratory maintenance and animal welfare. We work with and support both Orion therapy areas, oncology and pain, as well as safety pharmacology, toxicology, translational PK/PD, and animal health.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a certified veterinarian with already a few years of experience but also lot of fresh ideas in mind.

Key qualifications:

  • Experience in soft tissue surgery, anesthesia, and pain alleviation.
  • Keen understanding of experimental design underlying scientific principles.
  • Excellent networking, presentation, and communication skills in English and in Finnish with high impact.
  • Enthusiastic, innovative, and science-oriented mindset.
  • Prior knowhow in the fields of immunology, oncology and/or pain as well as prior experience in drug discovery, laboratory animals or exotic pets are considered as advantages.
  • Successful completion of the laboratory animal course in the use of animals for scientific or educational purposes would be an asset.
