The AS400 Developer at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our IT Development team, supporting efforts to maintain and enhance our legacy systems critical to business operations. This position involves developing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the IBM AS400 platform and is ideal for someone who is technically adept, detail-oriented, and passionate about legacy systems.Key Responsibilities:

Application Development

  • Develop, modify, and enhance software applications on the IBM AS400 platform.
  • Write, test, and deploy RPG 400 & RPG IV/ILE to meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with other developers and IT staff to design and implement new features.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner to ensure system stability.

Support System Admin

  • Provide support for System Admin when issues get escalated.

Data Management

  • Design and manage databases on the AS400 system, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for AS400 databases.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data structures and processes.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with business analysts and users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other IT team members.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Duties

  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Exigence, Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all items
  • Responsible for analysis, planning, design, programming, testing, implementation and documentation of all business software application requests associated with the existing ERP system.
  • Write code for integration between the existing ERP system and different applications
  • Perform analysis needed to support the multiple areas of the business in their day-to-day use of the application
  • Manage multiple project priorities to successfully deliver solutions to our business owners within defined timelines
  • Troubleshoot, identify and fix application bugs
  • Provide information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Support the systems afterhours as part of the on-call rotation
  • Follow IT change management process
  • Ability to collaborate with the Solutions Architect on projects that span multiple technologies and systems
