Description:

WHY ROLLS ROYCE?

We’re looking for an experienced ASIC/FPGA Designer or Verification Engineer to join the Complex Electronics Capability team at the Systems and Controls Centre of Excellence within Rolls-Royce, based in Birmingham.
In this role you will be part of a small team responsible for the design, verification, and implementation of complex digital designs for use on all future Rolls-Royce projects. The projects we work on include developing new RISC-V processor cores, SoC ASICs and complex FPGA based controllers. The designs we develop are used on a diverse range of safety critical applications. Your ability to find cutting edge solutions to complex problems will ensure the designs operate safely and reliably in the harshest of environments.
For a design focused role, we expect experience in volume deployed products using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog RTL. You must be able to show experience of the complete ASIC/FPGA process flow, Synthesis, Layout and timing analysis.
For a verification focused role, we expect strong experience using SystemVerilog & UVM. You should have a track record of successfully completing several previous verification projects.
Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.
We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and remarkable benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Developing complex digital ASIC/FPGAs using VHDL.
  • Developing complex testbenches in SystemVerilog and UVM test environments.
  • Develop timely and effective solutions for problematic design & verification problems.
  • Integrating debugging designs and supporting teams to resolve issues.

At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • Detailed knowledge of digital design and appropriate languages, flows and methodologies.
  • Prior demonstrable experience using implementation tools, such as Simulators, synthesis engines, STA tools etc.
  • Strong prior experience of independently developing complex testbenches in SystemVerilog and UVM test environments.
  • Experience of writing, managing, and maintaining complex documentation and plans.
  • Experience in scripting with languages such as TCL, Python, Shell scripts.
  • Experience in version control, such as Git, SVN
