Description:

Hampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for an Assistant Director for Alumni and Employer Relations. Reporting to the Director of the Ferguson Career Center, the Assistant Director for Alumni and Employer Relations is responsible for supporting the College mission by developing and managing vibrant programs to strengthen relationships between students, alumni, and employers. This role focuses on creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with alumni and employers, expanding internship and employment opportunities, and fostering inclusive, diverse partnerships. The Assistant Director also collaborates with campus partners to deliver career-related programming and ensure seamless access to resources.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree, with minimum of 3 years of previous relevant experience, is required. Masters degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Cultivates relationships with national, international, and regional employers, alumni, and stakeholders to grow the number of high-quality internships and employment opportunities for students.
Works with faculty, staff, and administrators to discover opportunities for engaging employers and alumni in various programs. Partners with Advancement, Alumni Affairs, the Alumni Council, the Compass Program, and other faculty and staff for program planning, participation, and marketing initiatives.
Develops and manages on-campus and off-campus events designed to foster student-alumni-employer connections. Oversees the marketing and execution of virtual and in-person recruiting activities.
Leverages alumni interest in supporting student career development by creating programs that inspire continued involvement, with particular attention to engaging young alumni.
Identifies and engages employers who prioritize diverse and inclusive workplaces, ensuring that students have access to opportunities in such environments.
Makes use of technology for employer relationships, event development, and tracking analytics to drive engagement. Adjusts promotional strategies as necessary based on data insights. Gathers and reports annual student outcomes, and regularly assesses program effectiveness to ensure continued improvement.
Provides career advising to students, helping them identify and pursue academic and career goals, explore job search best practices, and prepare for the job market. Advises students on professional networking, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
Participates in professional development programs and associations to stay current on industry trends and best practices. : Develops data collection and dissemination strategy to measure engagement and satisfaction and to better inform long and short-term planning. Works with Director to institute needed changes in programs and initiatives, as well as create and market data reports both internally and externally.
Develops initiatives to recognize student achievements in career development and supports competition-based programs to further career readiness.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
