Description:

The Access, Engagement and Outreach Worker will champion the needs of children and young people from Black, Brown and other minoritised communities by working with colleagues within the Child and Mental Health Service (CAMHS) localities across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset to identify and address access barriers, facilitate discussions and to actively increase the visibility of CAMHS services provided by AWP to the local community.
You will work with the service and alongside the CAMHS Community Development Lead for Improving Access to CAMHS for Black, Brown, and other minoritised communities, supporting them to reflect and address barriers within the service to allow improved access.
The post holder will be expected to have a relevant vocational qualification and experience or working with Black, Brown and other minoritised community groups either in a voluntary or paid capacity. They must have an u nderstanding of the mental health needs for those from Black, Brown and other minoritised communities and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, and an ability to engage with service users and stakeholders.
The Access, Engagement and Outreach Worker will use assertive outreach skills to engage with the community and with children, young people, their families and carers who services find hard to
reach. You will support children, young people, their families and carers in accessing clinical interventions alongside CAMHS professionals.
Alongside the Community Development Lead, you will engage with children, young people and their parents/carers as well as other key stakeholders to ensure that access to CAMHS is improved for this population and ensure themes regards challenges/barriers to accessing services to CAMHS are highlighted to AWP Senior Managers, as well as Clinicians, the Quality Improvement Project “Advisory Group”. You will work collaboratively to implement steps to continue to improve access.

The postholder will work alongside the community Development lead:
to identify and address barriers to access CAMHS for Black and Brown and other minoritised Communities.
to raise awareness about mental health needs of black, brown , and other minoritised communities to CAMHS staff
engage with service users, key stakeholders, community groups, partner’s organisations and other agencies.
support CAMHS clinicians in working with children, young people, their families and carers, signposting them to appropriate services.
undertake data collection and analysis.
work alongside CAMHS Clinicians to engage with children, young people, their families, and carers as appropriate to identify their care and support needs.
support service user participation and processes for co-production of services.
Contribute to and support the development of the Project Plan alongside the Project “Advisory Group”, CAMHS Senior Management Team, and the AWP EDI Advisor.
participate in regular supervision and ongoing professional development
