Description:

This is a training role within the Psychological Therapies Practice for children and young people ( formally CYP-IAPT). We have posts across BNSSG. This training post will lead to status as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the BABCP. The post-holder will work within the Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire CAMHS service at Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust, providing Cognitive Behavioural therapy in the CAMHS service whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role at the University of Exeter.
This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide evidence based intervention consistent with their training course. The post- holder would be expected to attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post.
Hold an appropriate caseload and key work.
Provide Specialist CAMHS assessments and therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents and their families who have been referred from external agencies, with severe, complex and enduring psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Undertake assessments, including risk assessments, and contribute to care planning and deliver interventions in collaboration with children and young people.

Please note that although this is predominantly a 9-5 Monday to Friday role whilst in training depending on where the candidate is placed at the end of the training programme they may be expected to work extended hours including nights and weekends.

Key Performance Areas
To work as a Community CAMHS Practitioner on the PGDip/GradDip programme; to deliver evidence-based treatment interventions, on a one-to-one, family and group basis to promote recovery, appropriate in partnership with children, young people and families/carers.
1. To assess and decide on appropriate models of treatment, often involving highly complex issues and situations and thus requiring analysis, comparison and interpretation of a range of options.
2. To conduct risk assessments and provide risk management plans in line with the clinical risk policy; including safeguarding.
3. To regularly review and monitor outcome of assessment and effects of treatment in line with CYP-IAPT outcome monitoring.
4. To assess the needs of the individual children, young people and their families and work in partnership with them and work in partnership with them and manage a defined case load.
5. To undertake mental health assessments in a variety of settings including home, clinic, schools and acute settings and ensure appropriate treatment plans are initiated.
6. To provide therapeutic treatment packages including short or long term interventions.
7. To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to the private affairs and treatment of clients, except in cases where the child’s safety and wellbeing would necessitate the sharing of information.
8. To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team in the promotion of mental health and general wellbeing of children, young people and their families.
9. To act as mentor for nursing students on placement within the service.
10. To be involved in teaching staff of all levels and to actively promote the service developments.
11. To engage in joint work with team members and external agencies.
12. To advise and offer consultation to other agencies.
13. To develop and maintain inter agency working to provide an integrated response for the benefit of children and young people.
14. To share any special skills or knowledge acquired with colleagues to enhance the expertise of the team.
15. .To adhere to the relevant professional code of conduct ensuring required skills and competencies are maintained.
16. Develop own knowledge and practice and contribute to the development of others, making use of supervision and appraisal.
17. Maintain record keeping in line with service requirements and clinical governance.
18. To participate in clinical audit and service evaluation programmes as required.
19. To participate in local arrangements where required to manage unexpected staff absences.
