Role At a Glance
The highly experienced and visionary Civil Team Manager will lead and manage complex projects from concept through completion in our Calgary office. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for design excellence, sustainability, and innovation. The Civil Team Manager will oversee and coordinate design teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality architectural solutions. This role also involves defining project scope, establishing design criteria, and ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and company procedures, while providing expert technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Leadership: Set a strategic vision, manage and mentor a diverse team, and make effective decisions to guide project success.
  • Design Expertise: Leverage deep design knowledge and technical proficiency in software to create innovative, high-quality solutions.
  • Strategic Planning: Conduct market analysis, manage budgets, and oversee projects to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.
  • Client Relations: Build strong client relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and management.
  • Collaboration: Network, collaborate across disciplines, and support business development to foster team growth and enhance project impact.
  • Sustainability and Innovation: Apply sustainable design practices and stay current with industry innovations.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Use analytical skills to address challenges and adapt to evolving needs and technologies.
  • Public Speaking and Presentation: Present design concepts and confidently engage at industry events to position the firm as a leader.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a civil engineering role, with significant experience in project management and technical leadership.
  • Registration with APEGA.
  • Strong multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and the ability to devise innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and direct engineering teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
