Responsibilities:

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is the first and only province-wide health authority of its kind in Canada. Established in 2009, the FNHA began a new era in BC First Nations health governance and health care delivery by taking responsibility for the programs and services formerly delivered by Health Canada in 2013. Today, the FNHA is the health and wellness partner to over 200 diverse First Nations communities and their members across British Columbia. Dedicated to transforming health services for First Nations communities in BC, the FNHA is improving the health of communities by advancing the quality of health care delivered to First Nations people in BC.
The successful candidate for CEO of the FNHA will bring a track record of successful senior leadership experience, preferably in a similar sized organization supporting a complex public sector organization or with a First Nations organization. Through this experience they would’ve gained expertise in non-profit management and knowledge of healthcare developments, transformation, and First Nations perspectives on cultural safe care. Ideally this candidate will be visionary and passionate about First Nations health and wellbeing, as well as a strategic leader and an exceptional communicator who can establish trust and credibility both externally and internally. Knowledge of healthcare issues and health service delivery is an asset, especially public health and First Nations health and wellbeing practices.
The enabling of an organizational culture built on transparency, trust, gratitude, and consultation is key to the role. As such, the CEO must be a respected representative of the First Nations Health Authority and inspire deep engagement with the community while enhancing the reputation of the organization. The salary range for this role will be between $280,000 to $350,000.
The First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to First Nations people.
