Internship Purpose and Background in summary
Are you passionate about local and regional climate and environmental action? CDP has an exciting internship opportunity for a motivated individual to join the ‘Disclosure’ team to support engagement with cities, states and region in the Middle East, Africa and the Caucasus on environmental reporting and action. Tasks will range from engaging local and regional authorities on the value of measuring and managing environmental performance, to supporting international webinars, working groups, resources and more.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Recent graduate with experience working on cities and/or climate related topics
- An understanding of the issues of climate change mitigation and adaptation in cities, particularly in the Global South
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly and succinctly
- Experience in delivering support in a customer/client facing role in a multicultural setting
- Awareness of the role reporting plays in local climate governance and action
- Very good MS Office skills and ability to quickly grasp new IT systems
- Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high standards
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree educated or equivalent in environment/sustainability/urban planning
- Proficiency in French, Arabic, Swahili, Turkish or Portuguese is a plus
- Direct experience of working with government(s)
- Experience of public speaking
- Proficiency in an additional European language
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the annual reporting process for all participating cities, states and regions in the Africa, Middle East and Caucasus region (including weekly engagement tracker updates and regularly informing partner organisations about engagement progress)
- Encouraging local and regional governments to report their environmental information through CDP by making phone calls, sending personalized emails and mailouts, and supporting webinars and other outreach activities
- Supporting the design and delivery of (online) events and workshops
- Helping improve quality of reported data by providing one-to-one technical support
- Developing relationships and managing contacts through CDP’s customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Supporting data analysis activities and creating resources that showcase the value of disclosure
- Supporting campaigns (e.g., Race to Zero, Race to Resilience) and partnerships with organizations across the region
- Supporting the MEA Cities, States and Regions Manager in their activities
