Responsibilities:
POSITION PURPOSE:
Handles all shipping and receiving, in compliance with health and safety rules and regulations. Organizes, sorts and delivers goods to facilities, laboratories and offices. Maintains and updates crucial inventory management systems.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Receive all deliveries of supplies, materials, equipment and other parcels, taking appropriate measures to handle products according to health and safety guidelines, legislation and University procedures.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and/or other documents to ensure proper product delivery.
- Update all type of inventory based on requirements such as WHMIS and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) norms, to confirm the integrity of database information.
- Manage shipping services and recommend appropriate carriers. In collaboration with the health and safety officer, ensure legal commercial invoices are prepared and proper packaging is used as per Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
- Co-ordinate and deliver material and equipment directly to sites and ensure proper storage in compliance with internal procedures and provincial and federal legislation.
- Co-ordinate customs clearance activities in a timely manner for all incoming shipments from abroad. Provide guidance to clients, ensuring applicable documentation is completed properly, to avoid customs clearance delays or surcharges to the University.
- Receive, sort and distribute all internal and external mail and file all financial documentation required for auditing purposes.
