UHCW would like to offer you a warm welcome to the University Hospital Coventry and Hospital of St Cross Endoscopy team. Our JAG Accredited service provides a range of both diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopic procedures to a population of over a million people across Coventry and Rugby.
Its an exciting time to join UHCW as we work through our new Community Diagnostic Centre Programme (CDC), which provides patients with more convenient access to vital diagnostic procedures with shorter waiting times. As part of the programme a new Endoscopy Unit opened at the Hospital of St Cross in the Autum of 2023. The Unit includes three fully-equipped Endoscopy procedure rooms and facilities with separate male and female waiting and recovery areas, improving privacy and comfort for patients. This is in addition to our 5 procedure room facility in Coventry.
The clinical nurse manager role will oversee all aspects of the nursing workforce and facilitate the resources required to deliver safe effective endoscopy care to the patients in a timely fashion. The role is rotational through both units.
A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for the UHCW NHS Trust endoscopy units (Coventry and Rugby hospital).
Experienced in all aspects of endoscopy delivery in order to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their treatment pathways.
Main duties
1.Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
2. Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Undertake bleep-holder responsibilities for the area’s on a regular basis.
3. A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.

4. Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes.
5. Responsible for identifying safe staffing levels within the endoscopy unit including the allocation of the 24 hour on-call rota.
6. Responsible for interdepartmental/organisational activities including HR; complaints; appraisal; and mandatory training.
7. Undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring; equipment management and administration of invasive tests/procedures.
8. Responsible for the unit decontamination area (staff and equipment), liaising with the Trust Lead for decontamination.
9. Responsible for education and training provision of identified staff groups, patients and carers within defined areas.
10. Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
11. Regularly manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
12. Regularly support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g breaking bad news or following an unexpected event.
13. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
