Description:

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint two enthusiastic and driven Clinical Nurse Specialists to the Neuromodulation service within Neurosciences.
We are seeking someone with clinical skills enabling them to provide advice and support to both patients and staff. They will need to be highly organised with excellent communication, and organisation skills.
The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and support in the management of the Neuromodulation Service. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
Working as an autonomous practitioner devise, implement and follow up specialist treatments across the disease spectrum for patients within Neurosurgery . To be a skilled practitioner providing expert clinical care using an extensive theoretical knowledge base and practical experience to underpin the role, while acting as a role model for the delivery of expert care.
Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and their carers in collaboration with the multi/interdisciplinary team for patients with chronic pain, who are considered and then referred to the Neuromodulation Service, for Neuromodulatory procedures including: spinal cord stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery, as well as key involvement in the chronic pain medication management. To work as an autonomous expert practitioner and ta ke responsibility for the ongoing assessment, care and support for patients with long term neurological conditions, chronic pain, and spasticity, who are referred for spinal cord stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery at all stages of their treatment pathway.

  • To provide up to date evidence-based care and to clinically assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, providing specialist advice and actively seeking evidence-based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of a group of patients

To be an expert resource, providing expert clinical advice to all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, carers and other agencies.
Facilitate short and long-term follow up of patients through provision of Nurse-led clinics, telephone triage, day case admissions; facilitating consultant-led clinics and admissions as required.
Program Neuromodulation devices according to the patients’ response, and within consultant guidelines and clinical expertise.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
