Job Summary
A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, Office of the Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, the Communications and Marketing Specialist is responsible for strategizing, executing and evaluating digital and print marketing and communication programs for Student Affairs. The position creates content and implements ongoing marketing and communications for all digital and traditional media channels (e.g. email marketing, social media). Advanced knowledge of, and experience writing for various audiences and formats with high competence in editing and proofreading is required. The role designs and creates promotional print and digital materials using the Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., In-Design, Photoshop) and other design programs. This position consults with, and advises colleagues on audience-specific marketing, design and communications strategies and tactics. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
This position develops and implements communications strategies and plans that promote and profile events and programs. This position performs market research, reviews analytics, and recommends changes accordingly. This position also manages ongoing marketing and communications projects.
Job Description

Provides input to assist staff with the development and implementation of communication plans and marketing strategies.

Manages and executes communications and marketing projects.

Performs qualitative and quantitative market research, including leading focus groups, assessing analytics, reviewing feedback and data, and recommending approaches.

Writes articles, social media content, releases, briefing notes, speaking notes, key messages, Q&As, fact sheets, video content, and other materials.

- Develops annual department-wide marketing calendar.
- Develops suitable performance analytics for communications activities.
Monitors content and links to the website.

- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before they impact performance and results.
