MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Social or Agricultural Sciences or Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in environmental projects.
  • Experience in writing and editing funding proposals. Ability to transform conservation ideas into proposals, ensure content is accurate and easy to read, and knowledge of how and when to use data in a funding proposal.
  • Experience in organizing information coming from multiple stakeholders for funding proposal preparation.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (speaking, writing, listening).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills.
  • Good research skills.
  • Experience presenting/explaining complex topics to diverse audiences including some or all of the following: internal and external executives, donors, members, board members, and the public or equivalent.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in in environmental policies and conservation actions.
  • Experience managing teamwork in the context of conservation projects.
  • We strongly value a motivated attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Knowledge and expertise in developing theories of transformational change and related methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides consistency to conservation proposals, under the guidance of the Conservation Manager and in collaboration with other Conservation staff, and through ensuring the logic of the conceptual framework in a clear readable manner (for example, making explicit the theory of change and value proposition of the formulated approach).
  • Puts in place a systematic approach to develop conservation proposals, including managerial tools to support the writing and preparatory process, and ensure their long-term storage in TNC repositories.
  • Holds responsible for writing proposals for public agencies and financial institutions, international aid programs and conventions, and other public funding organizations, and for elaborating the first draft of proposals for presentation to private funding sources.
  • Integrates key elements of the Conservation by Design framework when necessary, and through the implementation of meetings with staff and other people who can contribute reasoning and ideas to formulate the theory of change and the logical framework.
  • Provides technical support to follow TNC internal procedures related to the fundraising process, for example, the presentation of project concepts to review teams and committees, and other bodies as appropriate.
  • Guarantees strict compliance with technical and financial guidelines for the elaboration and presentation of proposals as specified by the donor entity.
  • Provides support to the Development Team, as need arises. Builds strong teamwork and collaboration with the Finance, Grants and Conservation teams to get the work done.
  • Participates in communication initiatives, related to fundraising goals, under the guidance of the Communications Specialist of Argentina. Ensures the adequate storage of proposals (final concepts, budgets and other relevant data); participates in the design and management of a proposal databank for TNC Argentina; meets timelines for preparing proposals and any other responsibility related to his/her position.
  • Maintains transparent, effective, timely & appropriate communication through group and personal meetings, email and instant IM messaging, and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Does not supervise staff but coordinates the work of peers.
  • Resolves issues independently within program area.
