The Custom Silicon Solutions (CSS) team are seeking a highly motivated and technology focused Product Applications Engineer to join our silicon technology development team. The successful candidate is solutions oriented, passionate about technology, demonstrates strong problem-solving and communications skills with the ability to self-lead and work as part of a team.
The team develops silicon technologies enabling the feature sets of today’s high end consumer devices. The role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of technology that is enabling how we live in today’s technology driven world. The technologies include Capacitance Sensing controllers, Optical Actuator Controllers, Smart Audio Amplifiers and Power Management ICs.
The applications engineer role is to support the customers design-in process by providing both pre-silicon and post-silicon hardware and software tools as well as documentation and technical support. In addition, a crucial part of the role is to develop and execute on system-level validation testing at both the pre-silicon and post-silicon phases of product development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Specification, design, and development of FPGA based platforms for pre-silicon product validation and evaluation
• Specification, design, and development of platforms for silicon product validation and evaluation
• Specification, design, and development of high-level software for system-level product validation.
• Support internal teams and customers in the resolution of technical issues
• Generate customer facing documentation such as datasheets, specifications, user guides.
• Design, development, bench testing and debugging of electronic circuits

Minimum qualifications

• Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic, Electronic & Computer Engineering or similar
• 5+ years semiconductor industry experience in a senior engineering role

Essential skills

• Strong knowledge of analog, digital and power circuit fundamentals
• Strong knowledge of system-level inter-IC interfacing and communications
• Knowledge of semiconductor development and validation process
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to deconstruct and understand technical documentation
• Experience with schematic capture tools

Desired skills

• Experience with Python software development
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M embedded systems
• Knowledge of requirements creation, traceability, and validation process
• FPGA development experience
