EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 3 years experience in a lean environmnet participating and leading projects and kaizen events.
Position Purpose:
Under minimal supervision, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will provide support to continuous improvement programs/projects/events utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, facilitation, reporting, and project management toolsets.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist management in planning and coordination of activities related to Lean implementation to all levels of employees.
  • Collaborate with management and other personnel in the preparation and distribution of a variety of communications for the LSS program. .
  • Provide management with status updates through feedback and appropriate reporting on selected projects, Your Ideas at Work (YIAW), and Kaizen activities. .
  • Collaborate with management and other personnel in development and delivery of education and training on LSS methodologies across all departments.
  • Facilitate Value Proposition activities for project and action definition. .
  • Facilitate 3 to 5 day Kaizen preplanning, event, and follow-up activities. .
  • Provide input to managers in appraising employee engagement and empowerment.
  • Assist in the development of metrics to evaluate Lean effectiveness.
  • Provide project support for designated site Lean Specialists/ME/IE, in the area of documentation, the Lean toolset and facilitation. .
  • May lead Lean Specialist projects and also mentor Lean Specialists in project facilitation.

Additional Functions:

  • Schedule and track LSS training for employees at the site. .
  • Maintain database and master files for reporting and historical records. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Prior training in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, Value Stream Maps, Visual Management, etc.).
  • Must be proficient in operation of standard office equipment and possess a high level of proven computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of iGrafx and Visio desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to perform multiple tasks, details and priorities with ease, including presentations, report preparation, and developing and maintaining department files.
  • Good project management skills with working knowledge of the principles of analytical problem solving techniques.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Concepts: 5S, JIT, SMED, KanBan, VSM, One Piece Flow, etc.
  • Must work well in team environment, with sound negotiation and problem solving skills and be able to combine initiative with professional discipline to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required. to support frequent interaction with departmental personnel, all levels and across departments to exchange and verify information. Must have good presentation skills.
