Hiring Unit: School of Continuing Studies, Global & Strategic Communication
Job Title: Conversation partner for French@Work
Period: September 9, 2024 to June 16, 2025 (5 terms of 6 weeks)
Number of positions: 5
Hourly rate: $24/hour
Location: Online - Conversation courses are offered remotely
Number of hours: up to 7 hours per week over possibly 30 weeks

Conversation partner for French@Work

  • Prepare by consulting documents (texts, videos, vocabulary lists, etc.) prior to the session.
  • Make students practice what they studied in class with their teacher (communication, grammar/vocab, etc.)
  • Provide corrective feedback to students about grammar, syntax, vocabulary, pronunciation.
  • Closely monitor students’ attendance using the designated tool so that the attendance data can be consulted by/communicated to the coordinator and the instructor.
  • Work collaboratively with the program coordinator and the group’s instructor by providing feedback on the material, the students’ progress, attendance, etc.
  • Plan when the sessions will be held and communicate information to students.
