Description:

The Coordinator of Accessibility and Student Success is a professional position that supports Stetson University by providing strategic and transformational leadership in the area of academic excellence. Serving as a member of the Academic Success department Team, the Coordinator will envision and carry out impactful campus-wide programs on the DeLand campus that empower student success including: coordinating implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities, coordinating outreach to students in need of assistance, providing quality New Hatter Advising (NHA) to incoming first-year students, and supporting the greater functions of the Academic Success department. In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, the Coordinator will promote a people- and student-centered, high-performing, and relationship-rich culture of inclusive excellence.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in student development, counseling, or related field preferred
    Work Environment: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside on occasions throughout the year when tabling at events. May be requested to work evenings and weekends for special program events. Opportunity for a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) with one day work from home (WFH) per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Accessibility Specialist (Graduate Assistant position) in the functions of their duties
  • Supervise student employees and oversee the daily functioning of the Accessibility Services Center (ASC); daily functions of the ASC include:
  • Maintain consistent front desk coverage for the ASC
  • Coordinate scheduling, obtaining, and administering exams for students registered with Academic Success for testing accommodations
  • Coordinate new student applications through Accessible Information Management (AIM) system including meetings, disability documentation, accommodation requests, and professor notifications
  • Maintain open communication with students and faculty members regarding the testing process
  • Assist with the coordination of the software notetaking program GLEAN throughout the semester
  • Curate and/or develop alternative text formats
  • Provide education to students on various forms of assistive technology
  • Meet with students to review and establish reasonable academic, residential, and dining accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Participate in collaborative efforts to provide purposeful student outreach and case management support for at risk students; utilization of student management technologies such as EAB Navigate for communication and documentation of student cases
  • Maintain up-to-date confidential and accurate student records and prepare reports as needed
  • Provide success coaching to students in an effort to empower students to be independent, successful, and confident learners
  • Attend trainings to stay current on best practices and methods for academic intervention/coaching and learning strategies
  • Over the summer, participate in New Hatter Advising (NHA) training, provide quality academic NHA advising and registration assistance to incoming Stetson students through participation in on-campus NHA registration events, summer orientation, email and phone communication, and in-person NHA appointments with incoming students and their families
  • Participate in training activities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively assist incoming students
  • Attend and participate in division, department and university-wide meetings and represent Academic Success as needed.
  • Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned
