ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)
The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
Diploma/Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in finance/accounting.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Training and/or knowledge and practical experience in the application of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software at an intermediate/advanced level.
- Knowledge of Quickbooks Online and Sage 50 software at an intermediate/advanced level.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a deadline driven and detail-oriented workload, including an ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism when dealing with financial information including confidentiality.
- Recognizes and respects all cultural diversity and understands Indigenous culture.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions for Nation-Owned corporations including POS sales, accounts payables and accounts receivables.
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll transactions.
- Prepare periodic filing of government remittances including GST, PST, WCB, Excise Duty and payroll deductions.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations of bank accounts and credit card accounts.
- Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (including adjusting entries).
- Handle other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Maintains databases and other computerized files, including the hard copy filing system.
- Digitizing old finance fiscal files.
- Assists with year-end audit preparation.
- Provide assistance to management for special projects, including creating reports and other documentation.
- Assisting the finance department as required.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
- Contributes to the WLFN’s ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
