DevOps Engineer

This role is part of the Global Wealth and Personal Banking’s Data and Messaging Value stream on a programme called Intelligence Hub programme which brings data from a variety of bank and external sources and loads it onto google cloud where it is made available for a number of use cases, particularly running analytics models that have a direct impact on customers such as the banners on mobile application. The Devops Engineer role is in the Data Services and Platform sub value stream and will be responsible for building and supporting the infrastructure and tooling that is used on Google Cloud.

In this role you will:
- Build and support of reusable automated infrastructure pipelines on GCP to meet various business use cases
- Provide and govern the use of these reusable solutions across teams, within GDT WPB and potentially beyond
- Ensure solutions are compliant with security and risk guidelines
- Ensure appropriate logging, monitoring, alerting and reporting is in place to manage and support high availability of the services deployed.
- Identification and implementation of cost and optimization efficiencies such as automating manual activity
- Participation in incident management, post-mortem analyses, and create preventative measures for future incidents
- Working with multiple teams to share knowledge and ensure reuse and consistency, including demos of solutions built and documentation
- Opportunity to innovate by participating in initiatives including proving of new technology such as Generative AI and hackathons
- Keep abreast of new GCP features and technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Data Engineer/Developer with Cloud (GCP)
- Understanding of Terraform, Shell script, Python, YAML, JSON
- Experience of CI/CD pipelines and relevant tooling e.g.GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible and practices of version control, testing, deployment.
- Experience of GCP components e.g. GCS, GCE, BigQuery, AirFlow, CloudSQL, PubSub, DataFlow and Google Cloud SDK
- GCP Data Engineer or architect certification is an added advantage
- Experience of project development tools like JIRA, Confluence
- Working in a global pod spread across UK, India and China as part of a wider programme
- Comfortable in asking questions, challenging assumptions and driving pragmatic solutions
- Experience in working with Agile and Devops
