REQUIREMENTS TO BE A DIRECTOR OF CHILDCARE ADVANCEMENT:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Childcare Director or Senior Program Director overseeing multiple facets of childcare programs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development or equivalent, preferred.
  • Knowledge of licensing and risk management standards in regards to childcare; experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold, preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for service, building and maintaining a culture of excellence.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, as needed.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DIRECTOR OF CHILDCARE ADVANCEMENT:

  • Provides guidance and oversight of association and department systems, processes and standards specific to early learning.
  • Develop, implementation and manage a strategic plan for early learning to include; high-quality practices, staff development, tour & enrollment processes, and marketing.
  • Explores growth opportunities and expands childcare programming in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Manages early learning and childcare grants to include; implementation, grant data, grant financials, assessments and program alignment.
  • Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include identifying curriculum, securing program resources, and alignment of programs to state and educational standards.
  • Supports the implementation and use of Creative Curriculum, Tadpoles and Teaching Strategies Gold across all locations.
  • Supports all early learning programs in participation of Arizona’s Quality First program.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive staff development plan that has a focus on staff satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.
  • Provides onsite support to branches and programs through coaching, mentoring, and internal assessments; creating continuous improvement plans and identifying resources.
  • Manages the early learning tour and enrollment systems, working in partnership with association marketing, branch representatives and association support teams.
  • Review program budgets and staffing to ensure financial stewardship and achieving budgeted targets.
  • Positively represents VOS YMCA with partnerships agencies and other governmental entities (Department of Health Services, First Things First, United Way, St. Mary’s Food Bank, etc.).
  • Serves as a member of the Organizational Leadership Cabinet.
  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
