Job Description
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the General Manager, the DOSM is responsible for planning and overseeing the sales & marketing efforts of the hotel – specifically, the achievement of targeted room revenues, average rate, closed group business room nights, catering revenues, and RevPAR index. Accountable for the overall direction and leadership of the Sales Team.
What you will be doing:
- Manage the property’s reactive and proactive sales efforts
- Oversee the sales function in the achievement of targeted room sales and catering
- Prepare annual rooms and catering revenue budget
- Develop and implement property-wide annual strategic marketing plan
- Prepare annual sales & marketing operational budget
- Work closely with DORM to maximize rate during periods of compression and occupancy and RevPAR gain during soft periods
- Maintains successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses and providing a return on investment for the owner and the brand.
- Attend sales/revenue strategy meetings to provide input on weekly and overall sales strategy.
- Suggests innovative marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share and overall hotel revenues.
- Set goals for all sellers and develop sales action plans. Work with sellers to ensure they effectively carry out their objectives.
- Address performance issues and holds staff accountable for successful results.
- Identify coaching, training and leadership needs for the Sales Team and devise methods of delivery
- Analyze of monthly sales achievements
- Chair monthly departmental Sales & Catering meetings ensuring ongoing effective communication of financial results, strategic direction, and general hotel information
- Participates in hotel guest satisfaction initiatives
- Active member of the executive team of the hotel
- Develops strong partnerships with local organizations to further increase brand/product awareness.
- Develops and manages internal key stakeholder relationships.
- Develops strong community and public relations by maintaining property participation in local, regional and national tradeshows and client events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years sales leadership experience in a large full service hotel
- Diploma, Hotel and Restaurant Management or Business Degree would be an asset
- Superior written and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrated skills in leading a team and selling in a luxury environment, with a pattern of exceptional results
- Results oriented, very organized, highly motivated and able to work under pressure
