The Strategic Policy and Planning Branch advances the mandate of government and the ministry through leadership in ministry and sector strategic policy and planning, risk management, reporting, policy development and intergovernmental relations. The branch engages youth, parents, educators and others in the development of policies and plans for Saskatchewan’s Prekindergarten to Grade 12 education, early years, library and literacy sectors.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Ministry of Education is seeking an experienced, innovative, forward-thinking leader to join the Strategic Policy and Planning Branch as Director, Strategic Policy.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will:

  • Lead and direct a diverse team of professionals to provide research, analysis and advice to support government and ministry decision making;
  • Plan and lead stakeholder and citizen engagement processes to inform strategic direction and policy development;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and external partners, such as educators and administrators, other ministries, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, First Nations and Métis education organizations and provincial stakeholder organizations to develop and implement policies, protocols and strategies; and,
  • Represent and advance ministry and government interests through the negotiation and management of intergovernmental relations and agreements.
