We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 550+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.
SLR’s Acoustics, Noise, and Vibration team provides professional consulting services for a wide scope of projects ranging from city scale environments, building and interior space design, industrial facilities, and specialized underwater assessments.
As our new Early Career Acoustics Consultant/Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.
Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/MEMBERSHIPS:

  • Experience working in acoustics, environmental noise, and/or vibration control would be considered an asset (Co-op and internship experience considered)
  • Knowledge and practical application of Health & Safety requirements unique to workplace safety
  • Understanding of the fundamentals and approaches used to measure, predict, and evaluate building acoustics, noise, and vibration is an asset
  • Experience using any of CadnaA, CATT, Odeon or EASE, SAP 2OOO, Visual Basic, or Matlab is an asset
  • Established current working knowledge of provincial, local, and industry specific regulations and guidelines
  • Degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, or related studies
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (e.g., P.Eng. in Ontario)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (some short-term travel expected)

Responsibilities:

ROLE

In this position, you’ll support and work closely with our senior team on projects for a diverse array of private and public clients. Whether you’re working on new and retrofit construction projects for noise and vibration control, conducting field measurements, or assisting with the development of new acoustics, noise, and vibration models, you’ll have an opportunity to be mentored by industry veterans, and to put your technical skills to the test.
Key Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acoustic measurement, data analysis, acoustic modelling/predictions, and report writing
  • Assisting with acoustics, noise, and vibration practice (instrumentation and software needs, maintenance, etc.)
  • Actively participate in the continual development of a positive and professional reputation of SLR with clients, vendors, government agencies and other external groups as appropriate
  • Practice open and positive communication with all staff regarding SLR’s business goals and objectives
  • Work to consistently meet utilization goals and target billing rates and monitor your utilization levels
