Description:

At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated
EHS Specialist (all genders)
Chemical Safety, Waste Management
Full-time and permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Advise managers and employees from all German sites on hazardous substances and pharmaceutical compounds, on topics related to REACH and CLP regulations, API regulatory requirements, hazardous wastes, dangerous goods, exposure scenarios and risk assessments of chemicals
  • Support management with the performance of risk assessments and creation of safety instructions for storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials/chemicals
  • Monitor compliance to relevant regulations and support management implementing measures to meet environmental compliance concerning handling and disposal of toxic substances
  • Advise management and employees on the (re-)classification of hazardous wastes
  • Main contact person to the dangerous goods safety officers, external service providers and authorities
  • Perform chemical control law/regulations assessments and setup corrective or improvement actions when required.
  • Perform updates to agencies and support REACH
  • Participate in workplace inspections, safety inspections, external audits and inspections by local government agencies related to storage, handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals
  • Support corporate training programme with trainings to managers, safety delegates and employees on the topics regarding storage, handling and disposal of chemicals
  • Support the Global EHS Team with the development of Global Harmonized Standards/ Practices and transfer to local Standards/ Practices for Germany
  • Member of EHS Team in Germany, Global Hazardous Substances Team and Global API Team

Required Qualifications:

  • Chemical education with several years of professional experience or comparable in the pharmaceutical/chemical or environmental sector in research or production/manufacturing environments
  • Training as Hazardous substances Officer and/or Dangerous good Officer (GefStoffV/ADR)
  • Classification and grading of hazardous waste
  • Experience with risk assessments of chemicals

Further ideal qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of the IT- tool Quentic module Hazardous Substances
  • Experience in dealing with biological material (BioStoffV)
  • Knowledge for compiling the safety data sheets
  • Willingness to travel
