Working in partnership with utilities, governments, Indigenous Nations, and other industry partners we reduce energy poverty, accelerate decarbonization, and improve housing in traditionally underserved communities across Canada and the United States. Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.
Empower Me delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.
Community Power supports Indigenous and Tribal Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.
Home Upgrades Program provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.
About the Opportunity:
Empower Me is seeking dynamic, community-driven, team players ready to hit the ground running in the position of Energy Mentor. Empower Me Energy Mentors promote and implement Empower Me, an energy savings program designed for multilingual communities. Empower Me Energy Mentors are selected based on their roles and influence in the communities we serve. They are trained to help members of their community reduce energy consumption, and improve the safety, health, and comfort of their homes. This is a 7-month casual contract position, with a flexible schedule that accommodates other commitments.
The ideal Energy Mentor has experience working with community organizations and understands their communities’ and cultures’ unique needs and challenges. They are positive, enthusiastic, and able to remain calm under pressure. Energy Mentors are well connected within new immigrant communities and are interested in leveraging their networks to have an impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of workshops with community groups online and in person.
  • Promote the Empower Me program within your community and recruit workshop
  • May include attending community events as a representative of Empower Me.Report on relevant experiences working as an Energy Mentor.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Connections to local community groups and associations.
  • Comfortable with community engagement.
  • Excellent English skills – speak, read and write at LINC level 6 or above.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Organization and planning skills.Must have own transportation with valid driver’s license.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Outreach, networking, or sales experience.
  • Ability to speak another language in addition to English is an asset.
  • Work or volunteer experience with community-level groups.
  • Experience as a LINC instructor, or similar type of experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with energy, sustainability, and conservation or willingness to learn.

Compensation: $23.70/hr
We offer flexible working hours and a relaxed, open, and supportive environment. This is an hourly, casual contract position, including some business hours as well as evenings and weekends. This position is a 7-month contract with the possibility of extension.
