This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics and toxicology. We are currently looking for an Associate Engineer to join our Product Engineering team for a full-time, permanent position. In this role you will play a key role in improving product performance by building expertise on the product’s fluidic, chemical, and mechanical systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in science or engineering or equivalent (STEM).
  • 0-3 years relevant experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in chemistry / electrochemistry or biochemistry is an asset.
  • Experience with GMP and in working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is an asset.
  • Advanced and problem-solving skills: experience with statistics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player; show initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly contribute to our continuous improvement as an engineering resource on cross functional project teams.
  • Design and execute experiments and analyze data to drive to root cause.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team including project, process, quality and R&D leads.
  • Develop and deliver communications in and outside our functional group.
  • Monitor and control product performance through tracking and trending processes.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement solutions to improve the product performance.
