Title: Entitlement Specialist
Unit: Admissions
Reports to: Director/Supervisor
Status: Full- time; Regular; Non-Exempt
Salary: $45,000
Location: Agency wide (Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens)
Days/Hours: 35 hours a week – days will vary depending on program needs
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Entitlement Specialist’s primary responsibility will be ensuring the operations of the Benefits Access Program (BAP). BAP helps participants with securing government benefits for participants that are eligible to apply. The Senior Entitlement Specialist will work in tandem with the Admissions Unit to ensure that all new participants of The Fortune Society are screened and assessed for entitlements eligibility and assisting with the application process when eligible participants wish to apply. Senior Entitlement Specialist will also supervise Entitlement Specialists and Outreach Workers with a focus on data fidelity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required, some college preferred;
- Excellent writing and telephone skills;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent communication skills in various environments;
- Must be detailed oriented with excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, internet and apps;
- Must be able to manage time effectively in a fast-pace environment;
- Strong commitment to working with the formerly incarcerated; and
- We seek talented, dedicated individuals from all walks of life who possess a strong commitment to this mission. Relevant personal experience is a plus.
Travel Requirements - LIC offices, Harlem office, Bronx offices, & Brooklyn office.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for making sure that all participants are screened for entitlement eligibility;
- Assist participants in applying for entitlements through the various ways to apply, including reminder calls with respect to recertification and using existing technology/websites/apps to do so;
- Conduct follow-up for outcomes;
- Assist participants in obtaining documentation such as birth certificates, social security card or any document required for application processes;
- Provide individual counseling to participants around benefits-related issues; and or other issues that may arise;
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to supervisor;
- Ability to enter detailed information into The Fortune Society’s database, including conducting intake of participants as needed;
- Assist and coordinate with external providers that are affiliated with The Fortune Society for presentations and outreach services to participants;
- Attend trainings as required;
- Participate in and support advocacy efforts at The Fortune Society including being knowledgeable of all wrap-around services provided by The Fortune Society;
- Do this work in various locations of The Fortune Society;
- Perform additional duties as needed.
