The MITRE Europe and Africa Regional Operations Department (N251) is seeking highly motivated, mid-career candidates passionate about solving problems for a safer world. The Europe and Africa Regional Operations Department (N251) provides you the opportunity to solve the most challenging national and international security problems across Europe and Africa by partnering with the US Department of Defense (DoD), North Atlantic Treaty Organizations (NATO), and partner nations (PN) to apply advanced capabilities to real world operational needs. Selected applicants will gain exposure and experience in topics of common interest to the entire national security community.
Selected applicants will interact with a diverse group of peers, national security leaders, and sponsors solving real-world problems. A three (3) year overseas commitment is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical field such as Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline and a minimum of 8 years related experience, or 6 years with an advanced degree and relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a NATO SECRET security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with experience briefing senior level officers (O-6/GS-15 and above).
  • Strong collaboration skill with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams working on large and diverse projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical areas relevant to systems engineering and approaches for evidence-driven decision making.
  • Apply knowledge of principles of engineering analysis or data science disciplines to support recommendations to address sponsor priorities and challenges.
  • Experience in an Operational Combatant Command (CCMD) or Component Command (COCOM).
  • Candidate will be submitted for NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) status through US DoD sponsors and must be able to be approved and maintain the approved SOFA status during the foreign assignment.
  • This position has an onsite requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience encompassing various systems engineering lifecycle activities, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Experience planning, overseeing, or executing digital transformation, cloud adoption/migration, and information technology modernization activities.
  • Experience with US and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) cybersecurity policies, requirements, development planning, and operations.
  • Active TS/SCI
  • Experience working on-site with US Sponsors in a technical advisory role.
  • Provide track record in achieving significant work program, sponsor, or organizational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in digital engineering modeling tools such as Cameo, MSoSA, or Rhapsody
  • Expertise in requirements management tools.
  • Familiarity with MITRE’s International work programs
  • Familiarity with higher level DoD strategy, particularly as it relates to all domain operations and data sharing.

Responsibilities:

As a key member of MITRE’s team US European Command (EUCOM) on-site in Stuttgart, Germany, you will collaborate with MITRE teams supporting US Africa Command (AFRICOM) at Kelley Barracks, EUCOM at Patch Barracks and with the theater service components: US Air Forces Europe – Air Forces Africa, US Army Europe and Africa, and Naval Forces in Europe and Africa. You will gain deep insights into sponsor missions and leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation and problem solving. At the culmination of your initial three (3) years, you will become equipped with a strong foundation in operational and mission problem sets and become a poised to lead future endeavors within the Combatant Command (CCMD) Division.

From architecting resilient systems to ensuring the seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies, you will leverage your systems engineering prowess, critical thinking, and collaborate skills to address a diverse array of challenges essential to mission success. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Provide technical advice on the future direction of EUCOM projects to include Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) related projects.
  • Work closely with the Project Lead (PL) to lead and shape the work program, serving as a critical member of the leadership team.
  • Execute customer work shaping and engagement plans that align with both project and organizational goals.
  • Provide objective solutions and recommendations to address sponsor challenges.
  • Build and sustain a trusted relationship with the customer and key stakeholders.
  • Lead technical teams to define and deliver high quality data-driven technical products and/or solutions with actional recommendations for the sponsor.
  • Communicate, both in writing and verbally, with customer and MITRE on status of products in a concise, professional, and timely manner.
  • Collaborate across MITRE, DoD, and external partners.
